Friends’ volunteers complete digitisation of the CELH library card catalogue

Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of volunteers, the Friends have now completed the digitisation of the CELH library card catalogue. Catalogue details for nearly 7,000 publications, from Abbott to Zupko, were captured into an Excel spreadsheet which will now be handed over to the Centre. Over the coming months, incomplete entries will be enhanced, metadata will be added to allow for more specific subject searching and the options for making the new catalogue available to a wide audience will be explored. We will keep you informed and let you know when the catalogue is available for Friends to access.

Dr Angela Muir, Director of the Centre for English Local History, sends her thanks to the volunteers and comments that “Not only are their efforts important because they reflect the long-standing relationship between the Friends and the Centre, we would be at a complete loss without their efforts. I’m looking forward to being able to thank them in person at the launch event (date/time to be confirmed)”.
