Leicestershire Archaeological and Historical Society Dissertation Prize 2023

To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, LAHS has inaugurated four dissertation prizes for extended projects that focus on the archaeology and history of Leicestershire and Rutland. There will be two prizes for archaeology, for the best Undergraduate (BA/BSc) and the best Post-Graduate (M-level) dissertations, and two prizes for history, one for Undergraduate and one for Postgraduate levels. The subject area includes comparative studies, where Leicestershire/Rutland is one of the main comparisons used. It also includes art and design histories, and museum and heritage studies, where the focus is on Leicestershire and/or Rutland.

There have already been a number of submissions, but others are still welcome. This is a reminder that the deadline for 2023 prizes is 1 June 2023, with a request that members and friends pass on this information to anyone who has students who may be interested, or who might like to apply as an individual. This year’s prizes will be presented at the LAHS Scarborough Lecture in September 2023. There are more details of the scheme, along with an application form and guidelines, at LAHS Dissertation Prizes (le.ac.uk).
