Prof. Peter Borsay.

Dear Colleagues,

as you may be aware, Prof Peter Borsay died in November 2020, before his final book, The Invention of the English Landscape, c. 1700-1939 was completed and published.  I am delighted to announce that the book has been finished and will be published by Bloomsbury on 23 August 2023.  Full details are available here https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/invention-of-the-english-landscape-9781350031678/.

The Centres for Urban History and Regional and Local History at the University of Leicester would like to invite you to a symposium to discuss and celebrate Peter’s final work and his broader contribution to urban history and the historical discipline more broadly.  Confirmed speakers include Prof Penelope Corfield, Prof Keith Snell and Dr Katy Layton Jones.

Here is the Eventbrite link for booking free attendance at the book launch and symposium in honour of Peter Borsay: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/book-launch-symposium-in-honour-of-peter-borsay-tickets-699658817357

The event is at 3–5pm on Friday 29 September, in the Attenborough Film Theatre on the University of Leicester campus and online through Microsoft Teams. Please book a place either way – there is an option to choose in-person or online.

You’ll find an introduction to the event and a list of speakers via the link, too. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
