Sound Archives at the Library of Birmingham Archives.

For anyone interested, an upcoming free event on sound archives held at the Library of Birmingham during Birmingham Heritage Week.

Birmingham Archives and Collections, like many archives across the country, has a wide variety of sound recording collections. These range from oral histories, to radio programmes, to music, and many other subjects.

In this talk for Birmingham Heritage Week, Colin Hyde of the East Midlands Oral History Archive will explain how sound archives preserve our audio heritage. Colin will play examples from the Library of Birmingham’s archive collections, and from other collections in the Midlands, and will explain how these can be useful for local and family history; creative work in film, music, and sound; reminiscence and other health-related work; and much more.

If you have an interest in local history, sound preservation, or creative work, this talk will be of interest. There will also be an opportunity for you to say what you think a sound archive should be able to do for you!

For bookings and additional information please see the Eventbrite page.
