An illustrated talk by Professor Patrick Wallis (London School of Economics).

Discover how London came to dominate the economy and polity of England in the three centuries after 1500 in this illustrated talk by Professor Patrick Wallis, based on his new book The Market for Skill (Princeton).
Drawing on surviving records from The London Archives, Patrick will explore how the vital flow of young apprentices fuelled London’s population and economy, making it larger, richer and more influential than any other city.
Before the talk, you’ll have the opportunity to browse a selection of original archival material, and after the talk there will be a Q&A session.
This event takes place at The London Archives in Clerkenwell, in association with the School of Advanced Study, University of London.
