Lieutenant Joshua Gregory (1790-1838): His Life in Context by Philip H. Marsh.

This book traces the family of Joshua Gregory, father of Sir August Charles Gregory who became Surveyor General of Queensland in Australia, from their Nottinghamshire connections in the 16th century right through to Joshua’s death in 1838.  Joshua’s experiences as an ensign in the 78th Highlanders are described and then his return to Farnsfield with his family and the events that led to their leaving England for a new colony being established in Western Australia, the Swan River Settlement.
