The LSS annual conference this year is coming to the city of Leicester, hosted by Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) in their city centre conference space.

From Shanidar to Mount Sandel, and Leicester’s own Bradgate Park to Belgium, the Society looks forward to welcoming you for two days of fascinating talks, posters and displays related to the stone tools of the UK and beyond.

The Lithic Studies Society was founded in 1979 to advance the international study of lithic industries, and particularly flaked and ground artefacts, in the broadest possible context.

Members’ interests are diverse, spanning Palaeolithic to historic periods across many areas of the world. The Society provides a convivial forum for the exchange of ideas and information, it holds an annual conference, knapping weekends, online talks and discussions as well as publishing their journal ‘Lithics’.
