BALH in association with SDNQ (Somerset and Dorset Notes and Queries)will be exploring how rebellion, protest and popular resistance have shaped communities, identities and historical memory across six centuries. From medieval revolt to twentieth-century industrial action, the programme brings together a distinguished panel of speakers to examine how ordinary people have challenged authority and expressed dissent. Topics range from the Peasants’ Revolt in Somerset to the “Wildcat” strikes of 1912, and from questions of heritage and memory to broader traditions of protest and resistance.
Speakers include Professor Karen Hunt, Professor Steve Poole, Professor Andrew Prescott, as well as Steve Carter and Tim Goodwin.
