Leicester’s Terraced Housing

On 03 June 2024 between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at Satta Hashem Hall, Leicester Adult Education Centre, Wellington Street, Leicester LE1 6ZG, The Centre for Urban History and the East Midlands Oral History Archive are hosting a workshop to consider the past, present and future of terraced housing in Leicester.

Are you interested in Leicester’s terraced housing?

Rows of terraced houses form part of the skyline of towns and cities throughout the country, and particularly in Leicester.  For over 100 years these neat rows of streets have formed the basis of changing communities and been a place for generations of people to call home.

We are interested in finding out about people’s experiences of living in terraced housing, what terraces mean to people, and the changes in how we live in and think about terraced housing.

If you have ever lived in a terraced house, been part of one of the communities of terraced housing or just have an interest in terraced housing then come and add your views and experiences to a wider conversation on terraced housing.

The workshop will run from 2pm to 4pm and refreshments will be provided.  If you would like to join the workshop please email sah127@leicester.ac.uk by 16 May 2024 so that we can confirm numbers for catering.
