Local Population Studies Society Final Conference – July 2026.
On Saturday 4 July 2026, 10:30AM to 5:00PM, at Madingley Hall Cambridge CB23 8AQ the final conference of the Local Population Studies Society will take place.
The microcosmic and the macroscopic in historical population studies.
This event is free but numbers are limited. Registration details will be available shortly. In the meantime, please contact Romola Davenport (rjd23@cam.ac.uk).
If you are interested in presenting a 6 minute ‘flash talk’ then please indicate this on the registration form or contact Romola Davenport (rjd23@cam.ac.uk). A flash talk is an opportunity to present an overview of your research project. You have 5 minutes to describe your project, using images and any other format you choose, followed by 1 minute of questions. It is a great opportunity to let people know what you are working on and to get feedback from other attendees.
The Local Population Studies Society (LPSS) has, since 1972, been the United Kingdom’s only charity solely devoted to the promotion of all aspects of historical demography in a local context. Unfortunately, it is scheduled to be wound up in 2026, following a last conference on 4 July.
The Society has an eclectic publications programme which includes the internationally renowned journal Local Population Studies which contains articles on a wide range of topics from the fields of local, social, and population history. LPSS organizes themed conferences on topics related to local populations in the past.
