Explore how fields and their boundaries have shaped North Yorkshire’s countryside from the medieval period to the present day, and discover the hidden history of the landscape through historic maps and documents from the archives.

North Yorkshire Archives collects historic and current records for North Yorkshire and provides record-keeping services for North Yorkshire Council.

The Archives preserves records of significance for the study and understanding of North Yorkshire and its communities, holding them in trust for the use of present and future generations.

People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to engage with the collections, inspiring them to connect with their past and present, develop a sense of place, and improve health and wellbeing.
