Borough of Twickenham Local History Society, Programme of Talks – October 2026 to May 2027.
The Borough of Twickenham Local History Society focuses on the history of Twickenham, Whitton, Teddington and the Hamptons which in 1965 was incorporated into the newly established London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. A brief history of each area can be found under the ‘History’ tab.
Meetings are held at St Mary’s Church Hall, Church Street, Twickenham, at 8pm on the first Monday of each month from October to May, and take the form of an illustrated lecture by a guest speaker. Guests and non-members are welcome (there is a small charge £4.00).
- 5 October 2026: Lt. Francis Edward Blackwood, East Surrey Regiment– the almost unknown soldier, John Dewhurst.
- 2 November 2026: The Lost Grounds of Harlequins, Ross Hamilton.
- 7 December 2026: THE ALAN URWIN MEMORIAL LECTURE – The House of Boleyn, Dr Tracy Borman (Chief Historian, Historic Royal Palaces).
- 4 January 2027: January Social Evening – A Seasonal Surprise, (BOTLHS).
- 1 February 2027: Prince George and Master Frederick, Rosalind Freeborn.
- 1 March 2027: J W M Turner Living and Painting in Middlesex, Ricky Pound (Twickenham Museum)
- April 2027: The 46th West London Local History Conference.
- 5 April 2027: Lady Isabel Burton, Dr Helen Brown (Habitats and Heritage).
- 10 May 2027: A.G.M. followed by a short talk – A Local Walk in Picture Postcards, Howard Webb (BOTLHS)
