Heritage of London Trust
The Heritage of London Trust is London’s independent heritage charity, set up in 1980 by the Greater London Council to rescue historic buildings and monuments. The trust works in every London borough, supporting local communities who most need help.

The trust identifies projects, commissions condition surveys, gives grants and guides the restoration of each site from beginning to end. The focus is on heritage at risk.
Proud Places
Proud Places is a London-wide engagement programme inspiring young people with the world around them. Through heritage projects children aged 11 and upwards are introduced to important themes in the hidden stories of London and why they matter.
The programme helps young people improve their life choices and skills. On offer are site visits and craft workshops, a chance to explore London behind-the-scenes and develop local knowledge and pride. Visits are individually tailored to each group, and entirely free of charge.
The programme was developed with the Proud Places Young Ambassadors and launched during the pandemic in October 2020 with funding from the Jones Day Foundation. To date over 12,000 young people have been involved and the programme continues to expand.

In September 2026 the Proud Places Hub was opened as the programme’s workshops’ permanent home at 1 Golden Lane in the City of London.
Proud Places is represented on the Partners’ Board of the Mayor of London’s Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm.

On Monday 19th November 2026 Proud Places visit Pope’s Grotto.
