On Saturday 7 November 2026, 10.15AM – 4:00PM, at the Birmingham & Midland Institute, Margaret Street, B3 3BU The Victorian Society Birmingham Group present a Day conference, in person, cost £45 (including lunch & refreshments), reduced rate of £30 for full time students & Young Victorians.
This year’s Day School will explore crimes committed and punishments imposed during the Victorian and Edwardian eras across the region. Rob Firman, conservation architect on Birmingham’s Victoria Law Courts, will conclude with a look behind the work to modernise and conserve Aston Webb’s Grade I listed building.
The Group endeavours to devise a wide-ranging programme of events for members, and potential members, including, but not restricted to, day schools, talks, walks and visits to places that relate to our period of 1837-1914, with the objective of scheduling interesting, educational, entertaining and social events; and to foster a feeling of ‘belonging’ to a Society of like-minded people.
